How to Get to the Leaning Tower of Pisa
Pisa is one of the easiest Italian landmarks to reach — here's how to get to Piazza dei Miracoli by air, rail, car, or on foot.
By Air — Pisa International Airport
Pisa International Airport (Galileo Galilei) is one of the closest airports to any major landmark in Europe, only a few kilometers from the city center. Take a taxi (about 10–15 minutes) or the PisaMover automated tram to Pisa Centrale station, then continue on to the Tower.
By Train — From Florence or Elsewhere in Italy
Regional trains connect Florence to Pisa Centrale in about 50 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, departing at least every 30 minutes. From Pisa Centrale, it's roughly a 20-minute walk to Piazza dei Miracoli, or about 15 minutes on the LAM Rossa (red) city bus line.
By Car
From Florence, it's about 90 km (56 miles) — roughly 1 hour 20 minutes via the free SGC Firenze–Pisa–Livorno highway, or a little faster via the A11 toll motorway. Parking in the historic center is limited; free parking is available near Via Pietrasantina, about a 15-minute walk from the Tower.
On Foot — From Pisa's City Center
If you're already staying in central Pisa, Piazza dei Miracoli is an easy 20–25 minute walk from most hotels near the historic center — a pleasant route past the Arno river and Pisa's old town.
